At Sri Sri Gaushala we have Gir, Sahiwal, Ongole, Kangayam, Hallikar, Dangi, Tharparkar, Kasargod and Kankrej breeds of Desi cows.
Hindus worship the Desi cow, it is regarded as an abode of Hindu Gods and Goddesses. It is believed that one can attain liberation by simply serving a cow. Our scriptures praise the glory of cow as not only as sacred but also an auspicious of all being.
Ancient Indian texts have upheld the cow as the abode of all Gods, the path of attaining Artha, Dharma, Kama and Moksha. Panchgavya, blend of five products (milk, curd, ghee, urine and cow dung) obtained from the Indian cow holds an important place in the Ayurvedic medicines and is described at length as medicine, pesticide, manure and for various other household remedies.
