UPANAYANAM : is one of the most important Samskārās. “Upa” means ‘close’ and “Nayanam” means ‘to bring’. Upanayanam means to bring closer to the Guru or Divine.

Upanayanam also known as the ‘sacred thread ceremony’ is performed to mark the commencement of formal education in the Vaidic tradition. During Upanayana, The Great Gayatri Mantra is imparted to the Brachmachari as it is considered as the greatest of all upadesams and is called “Brahmopadesam”. And in Upanayanam, they usually put a thread on you and the thread is to signify that you have a responsibility towards the knowledge, towards your parents and towards society. So it signifies carrying your responsibilities on the shoulders. It is said that practice of Gayatri mantra cultivates a quiet mind, sharp intellect and increases the amount of creativity and productivity.

1) 8 years & above.

2) Happiness / Part I / Yes+ / YLTP Program.

UPANAYANAM Guidelines:

1) Upanayanam Program is a Full 4 Days timing : 6.00 AM - 6.00 PM

2) Orientation for the program starts one day before at 7.30 PM in ashram

3) Upanayanam kit to be purchased from Madhurya or Ashram Pharmacy

Upanayan Kit includes:-/p>

1. Samll Cup, 2. Small Plate, 3. Small Spoon, 4. Rudraksha Mala, 5. Asana (cloth), 6. Samll Hawan kund, 7. Hawan kund Stand, 8. Pair of tongs (Hawankund holder), 9. Big Spoon, 10. Sari / Dhoti

5) Collect your name tag from the Ashram Reception by showing your registration receipt.

6) Kindly register for the Upanayanam program with your whatsapp number.

7) Pregnant women and women in their monthly cycle cannot participate in the Upanayanam program.

8) Women should carry a blouse to match the yellow saree which they have to wear on initiation day. (Saree Will be provided in the kit)

9) Kindly Note: Shuttle Service will be not Provided During this Program

10) Date, timings, venue are subject to change. Gurudev\'s presence can also change according to his travel schedule.
