अष्टमी का दिन या आठवां दिन, नवरात्रि के सभी होमों के शिखर का प्रतीक है। शत चंडी होमा देवी महात्म्यम (दुर्गा सप्तशती) के 700 छंदों का जप करके, देवी चंडिका को अर्पित करने की एक प्रक्रिया है।
