Seva

Upanayana is a Vedic samskara that marks the commencement of formal education in the Vaidic tradition. It is a Hindu educational sacrament that marks the acceptance of a student by a preceptor, such as a guru or acharya, and an individual\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s initiation into a school in Hinduism. The word Upa means near, and Nayana means leading near the teacher. Upanayana then is a process that brings the student closer to the teacher, who in turn brings him closer to God by giving him transcendental knowledge.
