Performed in the authentic VDS Vaidic paddhati — Sankalpa, Ganapati Puja, Kalasha Sthapana, Punyahavachanam, the consecration of Agni, the deity's offerings, and the final Purnahuti.

Goddess Durga is invoked and worshipped with the Ashtottara.

Verses of the Devi Mahatmyam (Chandi) are chanted, recounting the Mother's victory over the asuras.

Ghee and red flowers are offered into Agni with the Durga mantra.

Description

Durga Homa invokes the Divine Mother as Durga, the protective Shakti who removes negativity and obstacles from our lives. The homa begins with Sankalpa, Ganapati Puja and Kalasha Sthapana; verses of the Devi Mahatmyam are chanted as offerings are made into the sacred fire, and it closes with the Purnahuti. Performed by VDS pundits in the traditional Vaidic way, it is offered for courage, strength and victory over difficulties, and is especially auspicious during Navaratri.
